James T. Collins and Mariah's Children

Ann Mariah Collins

Ann Mariah Collins was born October 18, 1852. On January 19, 1874 she married John P. Davis.

  • Cornelia P Davis
Ann is buried in the Collins Family Cemetery.



Cornelia Collins

Cornelia was born in 1856. She married Cornelius Gupton on February 14, 1875. She passed away sometime between 1885 and 1900 and does not appear to be buried in the Collins Family Cemetery. 

Their Children:

  • Ernest Hampton Gupton
  • Elsie Gupton
  • Helen or Lena Gupton
  • Cope Gupton
  • Percy Gupton (born December 6, 1885)
The 1900 Census Cornelius is listed as a widower.


Adar Collins

Adar was born in 1859. She married James May on May 21, 1877. She passed away on April 3, 1930.

Their Children:

In the 1900 Census the following children are listed.
  • Henry May
  • James P. May
  • Nanny May
  • Bettie May
  • Dallas F. May
  • Benny May
  • Annie May
  • Ada May

Eliza Collins

Eliza was born and died in 1857.


Thomas M. Collins

Thomas was born on January 31, 1859. On January 8, 1884 he married Ella S. Bowden. 

Their Children:

  • Fannie Collins
  • Nolie Mary Collins
  • Polly N. Collins
In the 1910 Census they were living on Dickens Road next door to Santa Jones.

Thomas passed away on June 6, 1936.


Emma Collins

Emma was born on April 8, 1864. She married Henry Harper on January 8, 1889.

Their Children:

  • Cornelius Haywood Harper
Emma passed away on September 9, 1951




Found this in the news. After doing a bit of research, I am still not sure exactly who this J.W. Harper is. He was 49 years old in 1898 so he is of similar age to Emma's husband. However, it does not appear that Henry had a sibling with these initials. There is a connection to the Collins family because he was taken to the Collins House.  Any ideas???
