One More Tale of Love and Marriage

Wesley Radford

My 2nd great grandfather

Wesley Radford was born July 12, 1842 to George Washington Radford and Sally Inscoe in the Wood section of Franklin County.

On February 24, 1870 he married Cleopatra Evans, daughter of William and Martha Evans of Franklin County. Wesley was 27 and Cleopatra was approximately 20 years old.

Before passing away in 1892, Cleopatra gave Wesley a large family during their 22 year marriage. In the 1900 Census of the Gold Mine section of Franklin County, North Carolina, Wesley is listed as a widow with 9 children living in the household. Their ages were 22 - 8 years old. The census was conducted in June of 1900. Two months later, Wesley remarried.

Wesley married Havanah Inscoe on August 8, 1900. He was 58 and Havana was 38 years old.

Wesley passed away on October 7, 1920 and is buried in the cemetery at Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
